Jan 14, 1986

So today I decided I wanted to celebrate a few individuals who have come into my life. I wish I had thought to do this sooner in the month but alas some great ideas just don't come right away. The first person I would like to celebrate is Robby.

Robby came into the world on his due date. He's always been an obedient child and always done what the Dr. tell him to do even sleeping through the night at 2 weeks old! Robby also came into this world as a fighter. Ya he has had struggles in parts of his life but he has proven nothing could defeat him. This has helped make him who he is today. An AMAZING Person!

I am thankful Heavenly Father sent you into our family for so many reason. Most of all because he is just wonderful to be with. Rob has always been pretty easy going and pretty level headed. I can count the number of times on one hand we have had some issues.

Rob is by far one of the hardest workers I have ever known. For example when he was 14 he got a job as a bagger. Florida Law say that anyone under 15 or 16 can't work very often. I think maybe 2 evening shifts and they must be off my 8:00 I think. When it got closer to summertime Rob started to pick up extra hours. If he heard someone couldn't work he would ask them if he could have their hours. Even the older baggers. He was working a ton of hours and raking in the money.

School had started up again he was in a culinary arts program in high school. Another well known fact about Rob is he is a fantastic cook. He has a knack of walking into a pantry pulling out a few things and making them all work to taste wonderful. Before Rob was 15 he had decided no more bagging. He wanted to cook. He hit the road and I think applied everywhere he could and yet he heard the same thing over and over again. Sorry your too young. He finally met Dick. Dick hired Rob to pretty much do the grunt work in his restaurant. That was all Rob needed was a break and a chance to shine. He worked his way up from brass polisher to Souse Chief. This attribute has been played over and over again in his life.

Robby I know this is a bit late but I just wanted you to know I think you are wonderful and I am so thankful Heavenly Father sent you to our family. Through you we have seen glimpses of Heaven. You are truly a special child of our Heavenly Father's. Happy 23rd Birthday son. Wish you could have been here with us to celebrate it. We love you without measure!

And Matthew has a special place for Robby in his heart. When he went to Florida to interview and stopped by unexpectedly, "You cousin doesn't even really know me, and he offered up his bed for me and slept on the couch. I really love and admire that whole family - they treated me so well..."

No way, Robby was a sous chef?? I didn't think he could go up in cool-ness points but he just did.
Robby also went to Chile, which makes him awesome. AND he sent out thank-you notes after his wedding, which makes him awesome-r.
Happy Birthday Robby! We love the Ladles so much and are grateful to count you as family.
